About APEX Legacy

I built APEX because I’ve been to too many funerals that didn’t have to happen. Family. Friends. Classmates. Colleagues. People I love — and people you love — leaving this world far too soon, most often to health conditions that could have been turned around if the knowledge had reached us in time.

Not because we didn’t care. Because nobody built the knowledge for us — high blood pressure at the family reunion, diabetes in the church pews, and every health app on the shelf acting like every body carries the same story. Ours doesn’t. Four hundred years shaped what’s on our plates and what runs in our blood. So we built it ourselves.

APEX knows our food, our families, and our faith. It knows collard greens and hibiscus tea belong in the same sentence as blood pressure. It knows Sunday dinner is sacred. It doesn’t lecture — it walks with you, the way grandmother wisdom always has.

This is more than an app to me. It’s a promise to the ones we lost: our knowledge comes home, and our people live long enough to pass it on.

APEX is built for Black Americans — US-born descendants of US-enslaved Africans — and for the food tradition that grew here across more than five hundred years. Collard greens, okra, black-eyed peas, benne, sorghum, hibiscus: West African roots, eaten as Southern food.

That focus is the point, not a limitation. General health advice written for everybody has been available for decades, and the outcomes it produced for this community are the reason APEX exists.

APEX is a wellness and educational tool. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, and it does not treat. It brings together food, history and published research in one place so that a person can walk into their own care better informed.
