Why it is ours

An imported colored rice that diversifies the low-glycemic grain options on Black tables.

What it does

The red bran carries iron, magnesium, and antioxidant polyphenols. Semi-milled, it cooks faster than full brown rice while retaining most of the colored bran's benefits and a lower glycemic load than white rice. Iron content is useful given iron-deficiency anemia patterns; pair with vitamin-C foods to boost non-heme iron absorption. Gluten-free.

How it is cooked

Rinse, cook 1:1.75 rice to water, 20 minutes covered, rest 5. Cooks faster than full brown rice because it is partially milled.
