Why it is ours

Picking blackberries in summer was a real Southern Black childhood experience — roadsides, fields, the edges of family land, passed down through generations.

What it does

Blackberries rank among the top 10 highest-antioxidant foods. Anthocyanins reduce inflammatory markers including CRP, which are chronically elevated in Black Americans due to allostatic load. Fiber content (7g per cup) feeds gut microbiome diversity.

How it is cooked

Fresh or frozen — frozen retains full antioxidant content. Add to oatmeal, smoothies, yogurt.
