APEX Legacy · a way of life

Moringa

Moringa oleifera leaves — gram for gram: 7x the vitamin C of oranges, 4x the calcium of milk, 3x the potassium of bananas, 25x the iron of spinach. One of the most nutrient-dense plants documented.

Why it is ours

Available at African grocery stores, Caribbean markets, and online. Powder form is widely accessible.

What it does

Moringa contains isothiocyanates that lower blood glucose. Quercetin lowers blood pressure. Chlorogenic acid slows post-meal glucose absorption. Iron is non-heme but accompanied by vitamin C for absorption. Used by Wolof healers for anemia long before pharmaceutical iron — the ancestral prescription was correct.

How it is cooked

Add 1-2 tsp dried powder to smoothies, oatmeal, or water. Add fresh leaves to soups in the last 5 minutes. Do not boil the powder.
